AquaBlueprint was created by LoTech Aquaculture Pty Ltd, an Australian aquaculture design consultancy founded in the early 2000s to bring low-technology aquaculture to remote and regional communities, in Australia and overseas.
LoTech is led by Greg Dobson, who holds a PhD in sustainable tropical aquaculture and has spent more than 15 years across aquaculture research and hands-on consultancy. The sizing formulas in the app are the same as those used by LoTech and other leading aquaculture design consultancies around the world.
The design philosophy behind both the consultancy and the platform is the same: low technology never means low rigour. Systems should be simple enough to run and sound enough to last.
